Several readers asked me what's needed to stop the violence in the city. They want solutions. OK, I've been writing about this for years, and I don't pretend to have all the answers. But let's take a quick spin through a few issues, with the caveat that I'll revisit this topic from time to time in more depth as new ideas and data emerge.
First off, the people who do things like kill pregnant mothers and harm infants should be imprisoned. Perhaps they can be rehabilitated there, but right now, sadly, that's highly unlikely. For the young men who exist on the fringe but can be reeled back in, let's help them. I believe we have a moral obligation...
