In spring 2011, the University of Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Research (CCSR), in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), administered the My Voice, My School survey, which asked questions about school culture and climate. More than 158,000 students and teachers from across the district responded. CCSR analyzed and summarized this information, and then prepared individualized reports online for every school with a sufficient response rate. These reports draw from previous CCSR research on The 5 Essentials, and can identify the ways in which a school is organized for school improvement. Schools strong in three or more of the 5 Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student learning than schools weak in three or more.
