Director of Research Operations (requisition #099622)
The Consortium is seeking a Director of Research Operations who will ensure the effective functioning of multiple processes needed to support research studies and external relationships at the Consortium. Responsibilities include overseeing operations around project staffing and budgeting, including forecasting future funding needs, determining funding possibilities, and coordinating grant proposal writing and potential staffing for proposed work. The director will supervise the Consortium’s data archivist, senior survey administrator, and project manager, overseeing the processes related to their work; and coordinate with accounting, human resources, and information technology staff. The director will be responsible for establishing data sharing agreements with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and other external entities, and oversee agreements with affiliated and partner researchers. S/he will assist in building and maintaining external relationships, such as relationships with other units in the University of Chicago, the City of Chicago, CPS, and other research organizations around the country. The director will play a key leadership role within the Consortium, contributing to the mission and growth of the organization.
Senior Survey Researcher (requisition #099019)
The Senior Survey Researcher will work with other researchers at the Consortium to develop new survey items, help conceptually define constructs to be measured by putting items into scales (or measures) and monitor the statistical properties of old items and measures over time. (S)he will report on the quality of the data collected by CPS surveys and prepare survey documentation on an annual basis. (S)he will explain technical details about survey statistics to multiple audiences, including researchers and school and district leaders. (S)he will work closely with Impact to coordinate all phases of CPS survey administration? from logistical planning, to analysis of survey data, to checking the accuracy of data and the individual school reports. The Senior Survey Researcher will become knowledgeable about Impact's data storage system and will be able to extract files and individual data points. The person in this position will be seen as the survey expert by both the Consortium and Impact, and will have the opportunity to develop skills in survey methodology; statistics, including Rasch measurement; and educational content. (S)he will serve as a bridge between both organizations.
